What is Stockwood about, anyway? ‍

‍Stockwood is an old school, live-music-focused, community gathering - underground, invitational (because we’re about building community not bank accounts - but more importantly, because this venue is a living breathing whanau, a tribe, a family - and not everyone is comfortable with crowds.)For almost 30 editions, beginning in 1992, we have played host to a gathering of friends, friends of friends, and fortunately, many of our friends are super talented artists, musicians, teachers, and all round great humans.Wytaliba has always had a long tradition of loving great music on big speakers! We asked Stockwood founder and returning champion, Lawrence Hill, for a comment:

`Stockwood is an old school live music festival that has been going since 1992. It represents a wide variety of genres, rock, reggae, punk, to name a few - solo acts to big bands - Dj’s after midnight, workshops, comedians, fire twirling, shows!As  you can see from the name, our inspiration comes from Woodstock, we created a reason for people to come together for awesome vibes, unexpected happenings, earthy ceremonies, groovy people to meet, smiles all round, and of course amazing music!!!
